Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has teamed with Jackson Guitars to launch a new model that honors Pantera shredder Dimebag Darrell. The two axmen were good buddies back in the day (Darrell tragically died in 2004), and according to Ian, the Texas virtuoso gave him the nickname "Baldini" in the Nineties, so his brand new King V signature guitar is coated in "Baldini Burst" finish as a tribute to Ian and Dime's friendship.
The instrument is just the latest in several signature guitars that Ian has created with Jackson, and this one is part of his X Series Signature Scott Ian KVX King V line of axes. The green and yellow coloring is an homage to Dimebag Darrell's "Dime Slime"-finished signature models, and the electronics feature Jackson High-Output humbuckers that take the place of the Duncan Designed HB-103 humbuckers found on Ian's other X Series V's.
"This guitar was 100-percent inspired by Dimebag," Ian said in a video showing off the shiny new toy. Watch him rip Anthrax classics like "Indians" on it and talk through the specs of the guitar below via YouTube. Pick up your own copy of the guitar here.
