It's been well-established that Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows has a diverse taste in music. For years, he's been loud and proud about how influenced he is by Kanye West's pop-rap music, and he's also stayed plugged in to what's going on in the world of hardcore music.
Now, the singer has shared which bands he predicts will be "future headliners" in the world of heavy music. Over the weekend, Shadows attended Sick New World festival in Las Vegas, where he caught sets from rising alt-metal stars Spiritbox and hyperpop weirdos 100 gecs.
Shadows thought both of their sets were awesome, and he thinks that they'll be carrying the torch for bands in his league going forward.
"Saw one of my favorite groups yesterday [100 gecs] and it was glorious," Shadows wrote on Twitter alongside a video of 100 gecs' set. "Also, Spiritbox is is cool as fuck. Both are future headliners."
To be fair, both bands have already ascended to headliner status in their own scenes, though neither have ascended so high as to headline a cross-genre festival like Sick New World just yet. Spiritbox just completed their first-ever headlining tour, which was entirely sold out long before it started.
100 gecs, the duo of singer-producers Laura Les and Dylan Brady, broke out with their 2019 debut, 1000 gecs, a playful blend of glitchy pop, pop-punk, metalcore, dubstep and more. This year, they followed it up with the highly-anticipated 10,000 gecs, and have been touring as headliners all year.
See Shadows' hyped tweet below, and check out a song from Spiritbox and 100 gecs if you aren't familiar.
