Yo, what the fuck?! For everyone who was wondering what guitarist Jordan Buckley, bassist Stephen Micciche and drummer Clayton "Goose" Holyoak have been working on since Every Time I Die's shocking, acrimonious breakup, meet Better Lovers, your new favorite supergroup. Who's fronting the damn thing? None other than former Dillinger Escape Plan mad man Greg Puciato, who clearly needed another project in his life.
Joining them is Fit for an Autopsy guitarist and noted metal producer Will Putney. Best of all: Better Lovers' debut song, "30 Under 13," more than delivers on the group's pedigree, offering up all the scabrous screams, mathcore riffery and rawk grooves fans could hope for. Blast the frenetic rager above via it's high-octane performance video.
"Looking back, I'm so happy everything got me to where I am," Buckley commented. "The pandemic and the last few years made me hungrier and more grateful. This isn't a hobby. This isn't temporary. This is the next evolution for each of us. Greg and Will rejuvenated me and made me even more confident. Now, everybody needs to know we're a wild animal that just broke out of the zoo — there's no trying to put it back in the cage."
"Jordan sent me some already finished instrumental tracks, and they hit me at just the right time," added Puciato, who notably guested on Every Time I Die's 2009 song "The Marvelous Slut". "Those tracks woke up a side of me that I thought was fully extinct but was merely evolving and changing. To my complete surprise there was still something left in that area to dig at, and the vessel for it made sense."
Look out for tour dates. "30 Under 13" is out now through SharpTone Records.
