L.A.-based "genre-bending cult luxury brand" Rose in Good Faith is, in part, inspired by the post-hardcore music scene that designer Akiva Alpert grew up in, and it's fitting then that the independent ready-to-wear label continues to align itself with cutting-edge heavy music. Following up it's mosh-pit-inspired uniform release "Esoterics," Rose in Good Faith' latest collection sees Alpert teaming with similarly genre-bending artist Ghostemane and his record label, Blackmage, for an exclusive luxury capsule.
Released today (July 19th), the collection features seven unisex pieces that showcase, according to Alpert, "an indefinable merging of genres cultivated over years of collective participation in the fringes of subculture; be it hardcore, death-metal, trap, or otherwise. Divisions are only fabrications, be it in fashion or music," he continues. "Collaborating with Blackmage and Ghostemane represent parallel mentalities coming together to transcend the confines of genre as it applies to fashion via our collaborative taste, and shifting the cultural narrative forward."
Part of the release will include 13 tailored nylon track jackets ($1290) and 13 intricate zip hoodies ($1595), featuring bespoke chest rigs, raptor buckles, and steel jewelry-grade curb chains. Eric (Ghostemane) says of two of the unique outerwear pieces, "When we conceptualized this collaboration we aimed to honor the people in our world who embody the progression of forward thinking and creators reaching new heights making worlds collide. We aimed to give them a uniform of sorts. These pieces give that identity an appropriate packaging, so to speak. The 'Cannibal' Track Jacket and the 'Bonesaw' Hoodie are just as much art as clothing. They're special pieces that exist as a reminder that you aren't confined to your current title, label or genre; and that you can rewrite your story as you see fit, and as you progress."
The capsule is available now via the luxury brand's online store, and Ghostemane will be exhibiting the collection today at Comic-con. Rose in Good Faith and Blackmage plan to host select pop-in shops worldwide in September.
