Day one of the long-awaited Power Trip festival — the three-day hard-rock Coachella boasting the stacked lineup of Metallica, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, TOOL, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest — is in the books, with Maiden and GN'R doing the opening-night honors.
The temperature may have dropped by the time Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan and Co. took the Power Trip stage at 10 p.m., but that didn't stop Hollywood's glam-punk heroes from scorching earth and melting faces. The last time Guns played these fabled Coachella grounds, Axl sang the entire set from a throne. This time around, the king of the jungle returned with both wheels working, and presence to spare.
Following Maiden, GN'R hit the stage with the one-two punch of "It's So Easy" and "Bad Obsession." Check out footage of those two performances above and below, and check out the full 28-song setlist (courtesy of Setlist.fm).
Power Trip continues tonight with Judas Priest and AC/DC.
