Darkest Hour are back! The D.C. metalcore veterans — helmed by vocalist John Henry and guitarist Mike Schleibaum — have released a raging new single, "Perpetual Terminal," their first music since 2017's Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora. Crank the song above via its dramatic music video, directed by Mirko Witzki (Arch Enemy, Eskimo Callboy, Blood Incantation).
"Perpetual Terminal" represents a bunch of other firsts for Darkest Hour. It's their first release for MNRK Heavy since signing to the label in July, and their first material with guitarist Nico Santora, who joined the band in 2021, replacing Michael Carrigan. It's also the first single off Darkest Hour's just-announced 10th album, Perpetual | Terminal, due out February 23rd.
"This is a whole Darkest Hour album in one song," the band commented of the single. "It felt like the perfect album opener, eventually became the title track, and therefore is the perfect place to start as we present this new album to the world. Lyrically, it touches on all of the themes of the record — an album centered around the duality of survival and rebirth. Or, you could just say, some new music from old friends who just won't ever give up."
