Greyhaven's 2018 full-length, Empty Black, was one of our favorite releases of that year, a dark, ambitious album bristling with Every Time I Die-esque swagger. Having cut their teeth touring with the likes of Hopesfall, Stray From the Path, Norma Jean, and The Plot in You, the quartet have now returned with a twisting and churning new standalone song "A Match Where Great Fire Should Be," recorded over the summer with Will Putney, who also helmed Empty Black. The single doesn't officially drop until tomorrow, October 23rd, but we've got the early listen. Crank it above.
"This song is about recognizing the need for change and opportunity for growth," singer Brent Mills says of "A Match Where Great Fire Should Be." "I was struggling with where my life was for a while and struggling with my relationships with important people in my life and I realized that I needed to make the right decisions for myself and really make myself happy which I wasn't doing for a long time. I think I used other people as excuses for my behavior instead of really taking ownership of it. That's a huge thing I've learned this year and this song is mostly a reaction to all of that."
