Avatar are counting down to the February 17th release of their highly anticipated ninth album, Dance Devil Dance. Today (January 27th), the theatrical Swedish heavy-metal troupe — fronted by the clown-faced Johannes Eckerström — offered up the LP's latest single, "Violence No Matter What," a full-throttle rager featuring a guest turn by Halestorm's Lzzy Hale. Blast it above.
While Hale has done many guest features in her time, most have showcased her powerhouse clean vocals, and for good reason — she has one of the best singing voices in the game. That said, on "Violence No Matter What," she delivers some straight-up extreme-metal screams, and it's great fun to hear her leaning into that side of her range.
Eckerström commented, "'Violence No Matter What' is about one thing and one thing only. It's OK to debate and fight and to think differently. But there is a limit, and the line must be drawn at authority held with violence, a world view that cannot survive without enemies, a promised return to a fabricated former glory."
Hale added, "'Violence No Matter What' was such an inspiring piece to be a part of! Thank you so much to the boys for giving me the opportunity to express my angst against the horrors of this world through such a brilliant song!"
