For years, Sophie Llloyd has built up a following with her impressive YouTube covers of famous rock and metal songs. Recently, she served time in Machine Gun Kelly's touring band, but now she's moving forward with her own career as she prepares to roll out her debut solo album, Imposter Syndrome.
Similar to records by other guitar virtuosos like Slash and Polyphia, the gifted instrumentalist has enlisted several high-profile vocalists — including Trivium's Matt Heafy and Steel Panther's Michael Starr — to sing on the record, and its lead single is a track called "Do or Die" that features Inglorious frontman Nathan James on the mic.
Musically, it's directly influenced by the NWOBHM stylings of Iron Maiden, and you crank it above via YouTube.
"'Do or Die' is inspired by Iron Maiden," Lloyd told NME. "The track also has some really cool riffs and a sick guitar solo. It's just such an awesome song."
Imposter Syndrome doesn't have an official release date yet, but Lloyd revealed that it will be arriving sometime in 2023. Keep your eyes peeled for more information.
