In 1997, Incubus released their classic nu-metal breakthrough, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., which contained the single "New Skin." Now it's 2023, and guitarist Michael Einziger is using real-life, actual science to give people real-life, actual new skin.
Einziger has announced that he and his wife, Ann Marie, have spent the last few years developing a new "skin-related biotech company," and on May 9th, they're formally launching their first invention — a new anti-aging skincare brand called Mother Science.
The founding Incubus guitarist, who holds a music theory degree from Harvard, announced the surprising new venture in an Instagram post alongside a photo of him in a lab coat peering into a microscope.
He also shared a product shot of the Mother Science skin ointment, which has a sleek metal packaging and looks like the type of thing you'd see on a shelf in Target — not at all like an Incubus album cover or a rock-related piece of band merch. This company looks like the real-deal.
"Most of you don't know that my wife and I have been building a skin-related biotech company for the past several years," Eiziger wrote. "And the result of our innovation is a new anti-aging skincare brand called Mother Science, launching May 9th."
The website features the catchphrase, "revolutionizing beauty through biotech," and you can sign up for more info here.
For all the Incubus fans who're worried this will be pulling Einziger away from the band, don't fret. At the bottom of his announcement post, he assured fans that he'll "see y'all out on the road very soon."
