Today is the day Linkin Park fans have been patiently waiting for — the release of the 20th anniversary edition of Meteora. The full set is comprised of seven discs and three DVDs, and features another five unreleased songs on top of the already-released "Fighting Myself" and "Lost."
Linkin Park just released a new visualizer for "Massive," a newly-unearthed rarity centered around a killer break beat and a faint vocal performance from Chester Bennington. Rapper Mike Shinoda even gets into some clean singing on the track.
Another new-to-us song, "More the Victim," is another completed example of Linkin Park's early 2000s formula. Bennington really gets into the raw power of his vocal abilities, while DJ Joe Hahn's scratching completes the Meteora zeitgeist. "Healing Foot" also showcases the Shinoda verse/Bennington chorus structure, offering perhaps the most cinematic and atmospheric cut from the collection of unreleased songs.
Finally, there's the one-two punch of "A.06" and "A6," offering some pure, open-up-this-pit nü-metal music. The production is grimy and filled with early 2000s Matrix samples, but the guitar work (namely the strength of the riffs) turns this piece of the Meteora reissue into a beast.
