Pantera bassist Rex Brown is back in the saddle. Late last year, the groove-metal musician suddenly dropped off the first leg of Pantera's long-awaited reformation tour after he caught COVID-19. Brown assured everyone he was fine and just needed some time at home to recuperate, but last night (February 15th) in Albequerque, New Mexico, Brown returned to the stage to play a couple songs with Anthrax — including a partial cover of Pantera's "Domination."
The bassist initially came out to join the New York thrashers — who are of course backed on the kit by recent Pantera hiree Charlie Benante — to play their song "Only," but he ended up sticking around to bust through the heavy-ass end portion of Pantera's Cowboys From Hell highlight.
"AnthRex!!!," Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian wrote in an Instagram post. "It was so great to have Rex on stage with us tonight in Albuquerque. He played 'Only' and then we kicked into the end of 'Domination.' Can you tell we're having fun? It felt like 1997 up there."
