Pantera were notorious pranksters in their heyday and apparently they're still at it in their new incarnation. The Texan groove-metal titans now feature core members Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown joined by Ozzy shredder Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, and the last of these heavy-metal icons recently shared hilarious video of Anselmo mercilessly freaking him the hell out as he walked onto the stage.
The moment took place during a mid-set "Cemetery Gates"-soundtracked video tribute to Pantera's late, great Abbott brothers, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. Anselmo is seen crouching in the shadow of a massive stack of amps and throwing on a black blanket to further obscure himself. When Benante strolls unknowingly toward his kit to resume the band's performance, Anselmo pounces — and the drummer visibly jumps in surprise. As for the singer, he just cackles maniacally at a prank well played. Watch below.
