In 2005, Roadrunner Records celebrated their 25th anniversary with an ambitious project called Roadrunner United. Assembling 57 artists from past and then-present Roadrunner bands — including members of Slipknot, Anthrax, Trivium, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Sepultura and more — the label released an album called The All-Star Sessions that was essentially the sole release from the biggest, baddest supergroup in metal history.
In December of that year, Roadrunner took the festivities a step further and hosted an epic performance at New York City's Nokia Theater that featured performances from iconic Roadrunner bands playing a mix of Roadrunner United tracks and classic originals. Now, Roadrunner have unlocked their vaults and are set to unleash that live album, aptly titled Roadrunner United: The Concert (Live at the Nokia Theatre, New York, NY, 12/15/2005), on vinyl and CD later this year.
Today (January 13th), they've shared a video from that night in which members of Slipknot — Corey Taylor, Joey Jordison and Paul Gray — performed their chaotic song "(sic)" with Anthrax's Scott Ian, Sepultura's Andreas Kisser, Fear Factory's Dino Cazares and Bad Wolves' Tommy Vext. Watch it above via YouTube.
The 25-song Roadrunner United concert boasted 39 musicians, representing 25 different Roadrunner bands, performing 25 songs from 19 different bands' repertoires. It was a helluva show, and it's all being pressed on 3LP colored vinyl and two-disc CD — available physically for the first time ever.
Both the original All-Star Sessions album and the concert performance itself will be widely released on March 10th, and Revolver has teamed with Roadrunner United to commemorate the releases with exclusive, limited-edition merch — available now in our shop, along with pressings of the albums on vinyl and CD.
