Billie Eilish likes metalcore. Yes, really. For years, the Gen-Z pop superstar has been dressing like a scene kid and cranking out music with dark, moody vibes, and there was a rumor that she was hanging side-stage during Knocked Loose's rowdy set at this year's Coachella fest.
However, up until now, Eilish never confirmed if she actually enjoyed music of the heavier variety. Oh, but she does.
Late last night (August 2nd), Eilish posted video of her driving on her Instagram story, and the soundtrack she chose was a clip of It Dies Today's 2004 metalcore banger "A Threnody for Modern Romance."
The track was included on the influential Buffalo band's 2004 debut, The Caitiff Choir, which was released by metalcore powerhouse Trustkill Records and is considered a staple of the mid-2000s metalcore boom.
Even so, It Dies Today are by no means the biggest, most entry-level metalcore band. Surely, you'd think that Eilish would first be exposed to similar groups like Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Underoath, etc. before she found her way to It Dies Today — which insinuates that Eilish might know more about breakdowns and screams than we ever expected.
Either way, the fact that she blasted "A Threnody for Modern Romance" to her 109 million Instagram followers is fucking awesome. Check out the shout-out below.
